What does the Opportunity Education Foundation do?

Opportunity Education (OE) supports education for children and teenagers around the globe. We currently work in 11 countries in Africa and Asia, supporting over 1,650 schools, more than 5,000 teachers and reaching over 500,000 kids every year.

Who leads the Foundation?

OE was established and is led by Joe Ricketts, the founder of TD Ameritrade and other businesses and philanthropic ventures. OE has teams located in the US, Tanzania, and India, and collaborates closely with a number of NGOs in other countries to execute its mission. The foundation's headquarters are located in Omaha, Nebraska, USA.

How does OEF work with schools and students?

OE currently runs a large primary school program in the countries it serves, with a focus on delivering in-class learning materials including TV sets, DVDs featuring educational materials from the US, videos of master teachers teaching individual classes, as well as teaching aids and a wide variety of supplies needed for effective teaching. More on the primary school program is at www.opportunityeducation.org.

OE also offers Next Generation Learning (NGL), a learning ecosystem for high school and college students worldwide. NGL is currently in use in public and private schools in the US, Tanzania and Nicaragua.
